Madison River
The name Madison River springs from a family trip we took in 2014. We were on a six-week road trip from Vancouver Island to New Jersey. Along our journey we camped next to the Madison River just outside of Bozeman, Montana.
The memory of this night is a personal highlight of time in the great outdoors.
On a cold night in June 2022, on the island of Corsica, the idea for Atmos Hammock was born. Founder Jackson (18 at the time), and his younger brother Will were backpacking through Europe. They found themselves needing to spend the night off the side of the road, with only a bunch of bushes for cover. They set up their hammocks and prepared to sleep. Little did they know the night would take a turn.
Despite being in the Mediterranean, they were unprepared for the cold, having packed ultralight for their journey. Their only protection against the chill was a towel each, used as a makeshift blanket. The cold air and heat lost through the underside of their hammocks made staying warm nearly impossible. Though their discomfort was partly due to inexperience, Jackson couldn’t help but wonder if there was a better solution-something that would keep you warm, pack light, and still be easy to setup. Thus the concept for Atmos was born.
After returning from Europe, Jackson dedicated the next year to creating numerous prototypes. He even fabricated a custom-designed heat press to manufacture a working example. This hard work culminated in the creation of Atmos, a hammock set to revolutionize outdoor sleeping.
